Lord, please show me your will for my life...
In the past I have prayed and prayed for the Lord to show me his will. Let me simply say He (the Lord) has already done this through His Word (the bible). Our main mission on this earth is to tell others about Christ. In the book of Matthew it says: "Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." Matthew 16-20
In our life the only thing that really matters is what we accomplish for Christ. I'm not saying that education and your career are not important. But, if you are a Christian, then what are you doing with those things in which the Lord has blessed you. In your circle of friends, your family and your co-workers are you responding to the doors of opportunity the Lord opens for you (to share the good news of the Lord)? Believe me it is not by chance that people become a part of your life. Share the Word with those you are in contact with.
Now do you just start every conversation with "Jesus loves you"? Although this may be the right thing to do for some, not every personal encounter is the open door I was speaking of. If you only spoke of Jesus at work and you did not do what you were hired to do then more than likely you would be fired. Often you can speak to the hearts of man by your actions, not your words. Let the Holy Spirit lead you. He will show you when the timing is right.
Remember you can not save anyone. Only the Lord can do this. It is a great feeling when you help lead someone to the Lord but sometimes you only plant a seed. The seed will be watered by another person and the Holy Spirit will speak to their heart. The decision is then up to the individual whether or not they ask the Lord to forgive them of their sin. You have done what you have been commanded to do. May God bless you as you serve Him.
"What, after all, is Apollos? And what is Paul? Only servants, through whom you came to believe—as the Lord has assigned to each his task. I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. The man who plants and the man who waters have one purpose, and each will be rewarded according to his own labor." 1 Corinthians 3:5-8

Hey, my name is Erik Thomas. I am a musician. I am a fellow believer and I love Jesus with all of my heart. As a new chapter has begun in my life, I have found myself lost. I have no idea what direction God has for me next. I pray daily that the lord will show me what needs to be done in order to fulfill his wishes. I truly believe that he wants me to do this through my music. Although I believe this, I have no idea where to start with this. To be completely honest, I'm not even sure why I'm telling you all of this, I feel compelled that I need to say something though.
If you ever need to contact me, or by some miracle from God have a direction for me then you can reach me at www.myspace.com/erikthomassolo
God bless.
Sincerely, Erik Thomas
Erik,
Being a fellow Christian musician myself I understand your desire to serve the Lord through music. Allow the Lord to open the doors for you. I believe God gives us talents and desires so we can be effective in reaching the lost for him. I can not assure you that the Lord desires you to play music full time. He may or may not. I believe the key though is to continue to seek him and while doing so use your God given talent when he opens the doors. Allow God to use you where you are now in life, not where you want to be. Read his Word, pray and prepare yourself for continue growth. Hang in there and know I will be praying for you!

Aloha,
There is one God but in three persons. (Confusing?) There is God the Father, God the Son and God the Spirit. All three of them make up God; they are, they were and they forever will be. The best way I can describe it is God the Father was active in the Old Testament. God the Son (Jesus) was active on earth in the New Testament and actually was on the earth for 33 years. Jesus said he would send a comforter (the Holy Spirit) after he ascended to Heaven. God the Spirit is here today. Now with that said when you pray to one, you pray to all but... you must believe in the savior Jesus because "No man comes to the Father except through the Son"

Hey, my name is Lisa.
I am a second year medical student. Since I've started studying medicine I have wondered if it is really God's will for me to study medicine, because sometimes it feels that I'm just doing it because that is the direction my life went. (for example you would expect a person that's doing very well in school to study something difficult like medicine or actuarial sciences...) and it felt that I didn't really ask God specifically to tell me what to study... But I feel demotivated to study and I constantly want to do other things... It's very difficult to figure out whether this is just procrastination, laziness, or if I'm longing to do other things for a reason.... i.e. God actually wants me to do something else... I'm very confused at the moment... And it's really influencing my studying because I can't focus... I so badly just want a clear sign from God that He really wants me to become a doctor! It's very frustrating and a lot of times I feel a bit hopeless...
I have asked God to reveal His will to me several times...but it feels like it's just not helping...
What should I do? What should I think?
Lisa
Lisa,
Sorry I did not answer you sooner but I just saw your post. Normally I am notified when I get a new post.
Anyway, understanding ones direction in life is difficult sometimes. The reason I say "understanding" is God will use you wherever you are in life. We are born with a free will to choose our path.
Now, you want to be in God's will and you are as long as you serve him. He will direct your path and open doors for you.
God gives us pure desires (maybe working with children or music?); you must follow your heart and trust the Lord. Don't stress over what will happen 10 years from now because God wants to use you now. If you are in medical school there must be some interest on your part as you have devoted a large amount of time and effort to accomplish where you are today.
I would not change (potential) career directions without being positive of what you wish to do. Take advantage of the opportunity that you are in now. God will help you but He wants you to serve Him in your current place in life. Other doors will open "if" they are His will.
"Happiness is not getting what we want but wanting what we've got."
I will be praying for you. I do not believe it is by accident that we had this opportunity to chat. God bless you!
