Be Kind...

Often referred to as the golden rule (basically), I believe that being kind to others has many benefits besides from it being one of those things in the Bible that we are supposed to do. Of course there is the good feeling that comes when you are kind to someone. Then there is the reciprocal effect that sometimes happens and you don't expect it. OK, back to the Bible, did you know that prayers are hindered because you are not kind? Yes this is true; being unkind or abusive to ones wife for instance will keep the husbands prayers from being answered. So... it may seem like a given but you really don't have to be out right abusive to your wife, just a little unkind and it will cause you many problems. A little kindness goes a long way with people and with God.

It is written in Luke 6:27 "But I tell you who hear me: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you."

Certainly this is almost the complete opposite of what we are taught in the world today. However, we must remember that Christ was not of this world but sent to save those in it who would believe. If we are to love those who are our enemies and mistreat us, then how should we treat our wives, family and friends? With even more love and respect that we give others we do not know. We so often treat friends better than our family. We tolerate and forgive friends misdeeds, mistakes and issues and tend to be overly critical of the same traits in our family.

As you say Jack, a little kindness tends to go a long way. Love will go even farther and truly reflects the heart of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
